Meter Bank Frequently Asked Questions File

1. What is the Meter Bank?

The Meter Bank is basically a way for people (like you) to
help other diabetics all over the world. Initially it was
started to take advantage of a free meter offer. The Meter
Bank founder organized a group effort to take advantage of
the free meter offer so diabetics could get brand new meters
free of charge!

At its best, any person with a need for a meter is able to
get a new meter to help them with their diabetes management
program. If there are no new meters available at that time,
the Meter Bank's used meter database program or coupon
collecting can be called upon to help.

Everyone who participates in the Meter Bank's projects is
considered a "shareholder" with each doing whatever they can
to help out. All of this is done anonymously, with Richard
Thornton, the Keeper of the Meter Bank, being the only
person who has any personal information about anyone who
donates or gets helped by the Meter Bank.

2. Who runs the Meter Bank?

The Meter Bank is run by its founder, Richard Thornton, but
it's also "run" by the many people who give a small part of
themselves in their donations to the Meter Bank.

3. How can I participate with the Meter Bank?

You can participate in the Meter Bank's projects by sending
in whatever the Bank needs at the appropriate time. That
can be anything from UPC symbols, boxtops, fulfillment
coupons, or whatever else is needed, money-saving coupons,
rebate offers, postage stamps, etc...

The Meter Bank can also use any NEW or used meters you may
have. The Meter Bank will act as an information broker for
any new or used meters people wish to donate. This
information will be kept until someone needing the meter can
be matched up with the donor. The Meter Bank will never
have physical possession of a new or a used meter. The donor
will send the meter to the donee. ALL used meters MUST be
cleaned before they are shipped to the donee.

4. How can I get a new meter or help with a rebate offer?

If you or someone you know needs a new meter or help with a
rebate offer send an e-mail to Richard and he'll get in
contact with you to try to help. Please don't be ashamed to
ask for help. The Meter Bank was set up so anyone could
help other diabetics.

4. Who can I contact if I have further questions about the
Meter Bank?
