*EARLY AMERICAN IMPRINTS, SERIES II*
Lehigh's Library purchased another important component of the Archive of
Americana, a fully searchable text and digital images product. In
January we added Series II of the Early American Imprints,
(http://databases.lib.lehigh.edu/finder/dbfull.asp?DBID=184
<http://databases.lib.lehigh.edu/finder/dbfull.asp?DBID=184%20>) based
on the noted "American Bibliography, 1801-1819" by Ralph B. Shaw and
Richard Shoemaker to our database collection. This renowned historical
collection now makes the complete text and images of more than 36,000
titles published in the U.S. during this formative period available at
the computer desktop. Researchers interested in westward expansion, the
progression of American political thought, the development of American
arts, economy and trade, and other intriguing historical topics will be
delighted with their ability to search and retrieve these materials.

*TWO WALT WHITMAN EXHIBITIONS*
Two exhibitions on Walt Whitman and his publication of Leaves of Grass
150 years ago are now available at Lehigh. The first is a Lehigh
University Art Galleries' exhibition located in the Lower Gallery at
Zoellner Arts Center. The exhibition, designed by Clorinde Peters '06,
Art 275, in collaboration with Ilhan Citak and Philip Metzger of Special
Collections, showcases Lehigh's strong holdings in Leaves of Grass
editions. The exhibition text is by Assistant Professor of English
Edward Whitley. A website describing this exhibit, which will continue
until mid December 2007, can be found at www.luag.org
<http://www.luag.org/> . The second complements the Art Galleries'
display but offers a more comprehensive online exhibition of Lehigh's
holdings, mounted by Special Collections. The holdings and the online
exhibition include every major edition and printing published during
Whitman's lifetime, with the exception of the 1876 Centennial edition of
Leaves of Grass. It can be seen at
http://dig.lib.lehigh.edu/projects/exhibits.asp

*THE CHRONICLE OF HIGHER EDUCATION*
The complete, interactive version of the Chronicle of Higher Education
(1989 to present, updated daily) is now available to the entire Lehigh
community via a new campus license. To connect from on or off campus,
visit in the Database Finder
(http://databases.lib.lehigh.edu/finder/dbfull.asp?DBID=178) or click on
EDIT in your "MyLibrary" RESEARCH DATABASES area and add the Chronicle
to your default view from the list of library subscriptions.

In addition to covering higher education around the world, the Chronicle
features basic and advanced search of past issues, discussion forums,
and job announcements. The Magazine and Journal Reader provides short
summaries of important recent articles in scholarly and popular
publications and is searchable. The Special Issues and Data section
provides online access to the Almanac of Higher Education and
compilations of reports on information technology, Katrina relief,
libraries, executive compensation, book reviews, recent grants, new
appointments and more.

*LINS, PINS, AND CHALLENGE QUESTIONS*
As a well-known security expert once said, "Security is always excessive
until it's not enough." Lehigh has introduced some security enhancements
that help protect our identity and the systems we use at Lehigh. To help
transition to the new security procedures, LTS has created a glossary of
security terms which can be viewed at:
http://www.lehigh.edu/helpdesk/faq/accounts/glossary.htm

*FORGOT YOUR LEHIGH COMPUTING ACCOUNT PASSWORD?*
LTS has introduced a new process for resetting your Lehigh password. The
steps for changing your password are available at:
http://www.lehigh.edu/helpdesk/docs/account/forgot.htm

*WHAT'S New IN MOZILLA THUNDERBIRD 1.5?*
The latest version of Mozilla Thunderbird includes two new features that
users might find particularly helpful: an inline spell checker and the
ability to separate attachments from emails. The spell checker
highlights potentially misspelled words with a red underline. Much like
applications such as MS-Word, you can right-click on the misspelling to
choose from a list of suggested correctly-spelled words. You can even
add words to its dictionary. The new attachment feature lets you detach
or delete an attachment from an email, while leaving the rest of the
message intact. This feature should help users who frequently exceed
their disk quotas because they save messages with large attachments only
so they can keep the original message text.

For more on these and other features, see "Customizing and Using
Thunderbird 1.5" at
http://www.lehigh.edu/computing/docs/thunderbird15/thunderbirdmail.html
Download, installation and setup instructions are available at:
http://www.lehigh.edu/computing/docs/tb15setup/index.htm

*COMPUTER/PDA REGISTRATION*
The Campus Police Department is sponsoring a Register Your Computer
Program for Lehigh faculty, staff and students. If you own a computer or
PDA, you can register pertinent information about it in case it would
ever be lost or stolen. If you ever need to report it lost or stolen,
Campus Police will already have the required information to enter into
the NCIC (National Crime Information Center) system which is available
to law enforcement officers throughout the country. For more about the
program, or to register your computer or PDA device, visit the Campus
Police website http://www.lehigh.edu/~inlpd/
<http://www.lehigh.edu/%7Einlpd/> and click on "Computer Registration."
