*REQUESTING LINDERMAN MATERIALS DURING THE RENOVATION*
Most of the Linderman Library collection has been moved offsite during
the building renovation. Items with Linderman locations in the ASA
catalog are housed at the Library Materials Center (LMC) and other
remote storage sites. Users with Lehigh IDs may place requests through
this form: http://www.lehigh.edu/library/storage-request . Requested
material is retrieved on a 24-hour notice weekday delivery. Some
materials do not circulate and must be used in-house or in Special
Collections. You will be notified if that is the case. Otherwise, you
will receive an email notice when your item is available for checkout or
pickup at the Circulation Desk.

The Linderman Library Renovation website has been updated since the
move. The site, http://www.lehigh.edu/lts/linderman/faculty.html,
includes revised information for faculty preparing for fall courses and
research projects. The "With Linderman Closed, How Will I..." FAQ
contains up-to-the-moment, complete info on services for humanities
scholars and students (http://www.lehigh.edu/lts/linderman/faq.html).

*NEW COMPUTE SERVER "VEGA"***
The SGI (Silicon Graphics) compute server, better known as Rigel, has
recently been upgraded to a new SGI compute server, Vega. The new
compute server has the same number of processors as Rigel (32) but the
processor speed is 3 times greater and there is 4 times the memory (128
Gigabytes) and storage (1 Terabyte). Information for accessing
applications and compilers on Vega are available at
http://vega.cc.lehigh.edu <http://vega.cc.lehigh.edu/> . Rigel users
have been receiving periodic updates by e-mail for the past 6 weeks and
should be aware of the change. Seminars on the new system are scheduled
for August 12th (10am) and August 26th (1pm) in Fairchild-Martindale
Computing Center Room 292. Registration for these seminars is required.
To register, please contact Kelly Decker at ksd2@lehigh.edu
<mailto:ksd2@lehigh.edu> or 83990. If you have any questions regarding
the new server or need help accessing specific applications please call
the help desk at 8-HELP or your department computing consultant.

*/THE Color of Water/ is Lehigh "Same Page" Selection*
"On the Same Page Lehigh," the Lehigh Libraries Friends One Book
program, encourages students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends to read
James McBride's /The Color of Water: A Black Man's Tribute to His White
Mother/. On Tuesday, September 13th McBride will visit Lehigh University
and give a free talk at 7:30 pm in Sinclair Laboratory Auditorium. There
will also be a book discussion on Thursday, September 29th at 4:00 pm in
Jazzman's. The Fairchild-Martindale Library will have a supply of
paperbacks for loan to the campus community, as do many local libraries.
The Lehigh Bookstore and other local bookstores have copies for
purchase. For more information call 610-758-3039 and/or see these
websites: www.lehigh.edu/lts/friends

*ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPTS PARTNERSHIP*
The Digital Library recently added two new partners to the Digital
Library of Illuminated Manuscripts
<http://digital.lib.lehigh.edu/manuscripts/>
http://digital.lib.lehigh.edu/manuscripts/ project. Pennsylvania State
University and Franklin and Marshall College each contributed a Book of
Hours to this growing collaborative effort. The project enables
institutions that may have only one or a few of these resources to reach
an international audience. Visitors interested in miniatures, decorated
initials or Medieval and Renaissance calligraphy will find the variety
of the manuscripts represented on the site useful in their research and
teaching.
