*LINDERMAN LOW-DOWN UPDATE*
As of this update, the Leisure Reading collection, a small section of
the Linderman Library reference collection, and the Life magazine bound
volumes have been moved to Fairchild Martindale Library. New books and
books returned to Fairchild that were borrowed from Linderman are
shelved in the "mini-Linderman" near the Help Desk on the main floor.
Upcoming moves from Linderman to Fairchild are:

--April 28th - the "core collection" and faculty requests for books to
be shelved in the "mini-Linderman" during the renovation

--May 3rd - all the Linderman current periodicals to be shelved in front
of the Fairchild Library current periodicals on the 2nd floor of the
Mart Wing

--May 3rd - Arts & Science College computing consultants Sandy Edmiston,
Grant Hittinger, and Bill Bettermann will move to room 196 of the
Fairchild Martindale Computing Center. Roseann Bowerman and Kathe Morrow
will remain in Linderman through May 11th.

--May 3rd - The Lehigh History Collection, including the photographs,
will move to room 625 Fairchild Martindale Library. Call extension 84506
in advance to arrange for access to any Special Collections materials
between May 3rd and May 11th.

--May 11th at 10 pm - Linderman closes to all public use. Please submit
requests for materials via the electronic request form
www.lehigh.edu/library/services/LMC/lmc_request.html
<http://www.lehigh.edu/library/services/LMC/lmc_request.html> or in
person at the Fairchild Circulation Desk. During actual book moves,
materials will be unavailable briefly.

*NEW DATABASES FOR OLD SCHOLARLY/FINE ARTS PERIODICALS*
To assist our scholars and students who will be hindered by the
temporary closing of Linderman Library, Library and Technology Services
has acquired two new databases that will make research even easier than
before. Look for them on the Database Finder page
http://databases.lib.lehigh.edu/finder/ or add them to your MyLibrary
Portal.

The Humanities and Social Sciences Index Retrospective: 1907 - 1984
provides high quality electronic indexing to 1,200 periodicals,
including the most important scholarly journals published throughout the
20th century in North America and Europe. With the SFX open-URL
technology, users will be able to link out directly to many of our JSTOR
and other electronic journal backfiles and find hundreds of thousands of
articles and book reviews.

The new Humanities & Social Sciences Index Retrospective: 1907-1984
allows instant searching of the equivalent of 46 printed volumes:

--International Index: 18 volumes, 1907 - March 1965
--Social Sciences & Humanities Index: 9 volumes April 1965 - March 1974
--Humanities Index: 10 volumes: April 1974 - March 1984
--Social Sciences Index: 9 volumes April 1974 - March 1983

The second new database, Art Index Retrospective: 1929 - 1984, provides
an in-depth record of contemporary art history by indexing art
periodicals and journalism, important yearbooks and select museum
bulletins. Users can locate art criticism, artist interviews, as well as
track the work of an artist or artistic movement. The database is
international in scope, covering periodicals published in French,
Italian, German, Spanish, and Dutch as well as English. This new
database is also SFX open-URL compliant to make retrieving articles much
easier.

*NEW MAIL SECURITY FEATURE*
Library and Technology Services recently introduced a new mail security
feature, which allows users to secure and encrypt outgoing mail. This
feature also reduces configuration hassles for those who travel
frequently. More information is available at
http://www.lehigh.edu/lts/help/faq/secure.html

*PREP YOUR EMAIL FOR SUMMER*
Lehigh email users have several options for summertime handling of email.

a) You can set up a vacation message but let mail accumulate in your
inbox. This is safe if you are checking messages or if you have very low
email volume. Instructions are at:
http://www.lehigh.edu/helpdesk/docs/email-guide/email-guide.shtml#vm

b) You can forward your mail to another account. Instructions are at:
http://www.lehigh.edu/helpdesk/docs/email-guide/email-guide.shtml#mf

Remember that passwords must be changed every six months. Some users may
receive a reminder to change the email password over the summer.
Reminders are sent via email in advance.

Call the Help Desk at 610-758-4357 with any questions.
