Subscription, archive and contact information is at the bottom of this digest. FASTNET DISCOUNT FOR FACULTY AND STAFF Some faculty and staff at Lehigh currently use the Lehigh modem pool to access Internet services, with access to the modem pool limited to 4 hours daily. Faculty and staff at Lehigh can now get a 30% discount and unlimited Internet access through Fastnet, an Internet Service Provider. For $9.95 per month, Fastnet offers unlimited dialin access, an email account with up to ten aliases, 30 MB of email storage space, and 10 MB of Web space. Sign up for this service is available through the Lehigh Accounts page at http://www.lehigh.edu/account To learn more about the service visit http://www.lehigh.edu/helpdesk/fastnet.html OFFICE 2000 TIP Office 2000 displays only the commands used most often on the new personalized menus and toolbars. Toolbars now share space in a single row so that more screen space is available for your work. Pull-down menus can easily be expanded to view all the commands. After selecting a command, it will appear on the personalized menu. To customize a menu: Choose "Customize" from the" Tools" pull-down menu, then click the "Options" tab. Select the "Menus show recently used commands first" checkbox only if you want to view the short versions of the menus. To view all commands on the menu after a brief delay with the mouse pointer resting on an open menu, select the "Show full menus after a short delay" checkbox. To make the menus and toolbars look like they did in Office 97: Clear the "Standard and Formatting toolbars share one row" checkbox. Clear the "Menus show recently used commands first" checkbox to display all the commands on the pull-down menus. ENDNOTE IMPORT FILTER Two filters are now available for importing ASA records into EndNote without having to manually key in the data. These filters enable users to easily create a personal library catalog of books and other items held at Lehigh. The filters are available for downloading from the Lehigh EndNote FAQ, http://www.lehigh.edu/~inref/guides/EndNote.html (see FAQ Q8). Each filter has advantages and disadvantages, which are outlined. For more information refer to the Lehigh EndNote FAQ, or contact Sharon Siegler (83068, sls7) or Brian Simboli (85003, brs4). LEHIGH CD NOW AVAILABLE The Fall 2001 Lehigh CD is now available at the Bookstore for $5.00.
