LINDERMAN LIBRARY SERVICE DESKS
The renovation of various service desks in Linderman Library is now
almost complete. In the lobby area the renovated circulation desk will
now provide a single point of contact for all services--circulation,
wireless laptop loan, reference and Help Desk functions. Additional
lighting at the Linderman Service Desk will be installed soon.

The large reference desk formerly located in the Reading Room has been
re-purposed as a public service desk in the Bayer Galleria in a new
arrangement that is more welcoming to users. Special Collections will
also now soon offer a convenient, dedicated computer for users.

WIRELESS LAPTOPS AT FAIRCHILD & LINDERMAN
Students, faculty and staff are now able to sign out laptops with
wireless adapters from the Media Center in Fairchild Martindale Library
and the Service Desk in Linderman Library. The software on these laptops
has been updated to accommodate wireless connectivity. With these
wireless laptops individual users can connect to both the Internet and
the campus LAN from any of the wireless locations on campus. Current
wireless access points are in Linderman Reading Room and stacks, EWFM
400 and 500 level, Media Center, Rauch Business Center main floor
lounge, Packard Laboratory third floor lounge and Maginnes Hall lobby.
Please check exact limits of the coverage in these buildings at
http://www.lehigh.edu/wireless.

Individuals who already have their own laptops and want to use them at
the wireless locations on campus can purchase a wireless LAN card. The
Lehigh University Bookstore is currently able to special order the IR
recommended wireless LAN adapter. Information about installation
instructions and drivers, etc. is also available on the wireless web
page.

ELECTRONIC ACCESS TO NATIONAL JOURNAL
Big changes in Washington D.C. over the next few weeks! Now you can stay
apprised of all the new players and policies with two recent library
online subscriptions. The National Journal at
http://nationaljournal.com/pubs/nj/index.htm and the Almanac of American
Politics at http://nationaljournal.com/members/almanac are new additions
to the library's ever-growing electronic subscription collection for
2001. National Journal is a leading weekly covering U.S. politics,
government and public policy. The online subscription includes fully
searchable archives back to 1977. The Almanac of American Politics
provides information on Congress with political, demographic and social
profiles of congressional districts and background data on members of
congress and information on congressional committees. In addition it is
a useful, quick source of information on how national interest groups
rate congressional members and their key votes on issues.

IR ALERTS!
For the latest information on IR systems and services (including
scheduled system downtime), and for up-to-date information about new
viruses on campus, you can now check the help desk web page under the
link "Special Alerts:" http://www.Lehigh.EDU/helpdesk.

GOLDPLUS NOW AVAILABLE FOR LIBRARY COPYING
No change? No copy card? No problem! On January 29th new card readers
will be installed on all library photocopiers and microform printers.
All the new readers are online and will make copies by debiting from
students existing GoldPlus accounts.

Staff and faculty who want to take advantage of the ease of cashless
copying are encouraged to open a GoldPlus account. They can open an
account in person at the GoldPlus office located in the University
Center, or complete an application (available at
http://www.Lehigh.EDU/~infsv/goldapp.htm) and remit with payment or
credit card authorization to the Office of Dining Services. More
information about GoldPlus is available at
http://www.Lehigh.EDU/~infsv/smtgg.html.

Library users who still have COPICO cards, or copying balances on their
IDs will be able to use up the remaining balances at several copying
machines throughout the spring semester. Users who do not have GoldPlus
accounts should ask for copying assistance at the circulation desk.
