Has anyone thought of the PATC cabins? Ron, do these count like the 3 sided lean-to along the AT? I think it would be a great place to have a small group get together and run the "ON AT" signal from. http://www.mensjournal.com/adventure/0106/outposts_cabins.html Some of these places require membership in PATC . . . anyone a member? At Harpers Ferry there is Highacre, a Victorian home . . . With heat and electricity! "A select group of cabins are actually full-scale homes with complete plumbing and electricity. "Highacre" is one such structure. Located in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, Highacre is situated literally 100 feet from the famed "Jefferson Rock", whose commanding view caused Thomas Jefferson to claim that it was "worth a voyage across the Atlantic". The view from dining room bay windows in Highacre is no less commanding. Accomodations in our fully equipped "cabins" are identical to our primitive cabins, save for the added convenience of electricity, plumbing, and in some cases, heating. http://www.patc.net/activities/cabins/ here is a list of all cabins Check out the rates: http://www.patc.net/activities/cabins/cab_rate.html Peter Lascell, W4WWQ plascell@inmind.net Forest, VA ----- Original Message ----- From: "Daryl Cline" <wb4yex@yahoo.com> To: "Appalachian Trail Award" <atrail-l@Lehigh.EDU> Sent: Sunday, December 02, 2001 5:45 PM Subject: Re: MD or WV ?? > I do not have maps of the AT for WV and Md.
