They handle a lot of PC operations like FTP's that come in to a certain PC. These files are then FTP'd to mainframe. They make sure everything equals. They look at where these FTP's come from and make sure their site data equals our site data. We have onbase for a lot of our printout and they have a process every day that they go through to assure printouts get there. -----Original Message----- From: owner-vse-l@Lehigh.EDU [mailto:owner-vse-l@Lehigh.EDU] On Behalf Of McBride, Catherine Sent: Wednesday, August 20, 2008 9:54 AM To: VSE Discussion List Subject: Slightly off-topic, data center responsibilities For those of you who still have a computer operations staff and 24 x 7 requirements: In scenarios that involve non-mainframe platforms (servers, routers, switches, NAS, etc) does your computer operations staff do any kind of monitoring or preliminary trouble-shooting of that equipment? Does your operations staff power non-mainframe equipment down and up (if circumstances warrant), or does Operations strictly handle the mainframe?
