Hello Everyone,
I re-created the Standalone tape and everything works. Not
sure why the old tape would just not work. But I am glad I test these
tapes every so often.
Thanks to you all. And thanks to Billy.

Try IPLing the drive 5-10 times. At a disaster recovery site, the
standard VSE Standalone recovery tape (with standard labels), takes 5
IPLs to get to the standalone utilities (produced under z/VSE 3.1).

Hello Everyone,
I am trying to ipl from 582 tape drive using a VSE/ESA
Standalone Utility tape.
Everything starts to work and bam.
HCPGIR450W CP entered; disabled wait PSW 000A0000 00001122
I have attached the tape to my z/VM user id.
Any thing I should look for?
Terminal Conmode 3270 3270 mode
Def 009 01f just to make sure
Ipl 582 clear
Wait and hit enter.
Console appears, then after about 3-5 seconds.
HCPGIR450W CP entered; disabled wait PSW 000A0000 00001122
HCP1122E command was not performed. Tape vdev has been
given to user userid.
Explanation: The command could not be performed because
you are no longer the
owner of the real device associated with the virtual
device specified as vdev.
This occurs when you have issued the GIVE command with
the RETURN option for
this device. command may be either IPL, REWIND, or
RESET.
System Action: The command is not performed, and system
operation continues.
User Response: You will not be able to issue this
command to this virtual
device until the current owner of the device detaches
it.
