Okay…here’s what I understand about your tape file

(No HDR)
Data (7th file)
<EOF>
<HDR>
Data (8th file)
<EOF>
<HDR>
Data (9th file)
<EOF>

I’d use DITTO to copy them to an UNLABELed tape, then use an EPIC utility
(TSIDDTD?) to copy the unlabeled to a EPIC-controlled dataset/tape.

Subject: Recover tape data

Hi Listers,

I have a tape that was written over with files intended for the end. There
should be 9 standard label tape files, but instead contains data file 7,
EOF label, then HDR - data - EOF for file 8 and HDR-data-EOF for file 9. I
suspect the HDR label went to another drive and the correct tape was
rewound, then the files were written, overlaying the first 6 files on the
tape.

We use BIM-EPIC from CSI, if that matters.

How can I create a new tape with the 3 data files all wrapped in standard
labels?
