Pam, I assume you're referring to CPACF (CP-Assisted Cryptographic Function), which is a free feature on z890, z990, z9, and z10, so I see no reason not to order it. According to the z/VSE Planning Guide, "CPACF provides hardware support for symmetric cryptographic algorithms, like DES, Triple-DES, and SHA-1." It also says that, "The support for TCP/IP for VSE SSL transparently uses the CPACF feature, if available."
