Hello Kevin, Correct. FAVER2 (CA version) does not support the IDCAMS SNAP yet. IDCAMS BACKUP does not really like the multiple extents of EPIC (CA version) DISK. IDCAMS does like EPIC TAPE. I am going out to the WAVV site to create a required against IDCAMS BACKUP using the SYNONYMLIST. The IDCAMS BACKUP with the SYNONYMLIST requires that all volumes, both source and target volumes are available to the system with R/W access. Since the BACKUP is only getting the information from the TARGETVOLUMES, why do the Sourcevolumes have to be involved other than to have a list to compare against? I have used FAVER2 and DoctorD for most of my VSAM processing though the years. I guess the added functionality for SNAP processing sort of makes it necessary to use IDCAMS. -----Original Message----- From: owner-vse-l@Lehigh.EDU [mailto:owner-vse-l@Lehigh.EDU] On Behalf Of Edward M Martin Sent: Wednesday, September 02, 2009 10:52 AM To: VSE Discussion List Subject: RE: VSAM - IDCAMS Backup Puzzle Hello Kevin, What you say makes sense. I have been using FAVER2. We are going to be using IDCAMS BACKUP for the SNAP processing that I want to do. I will need to keep asking questions from you as I move along.
