Our network guys have had some 'interesting' moments with folks out in the courthouses going to wally-world, buying a Linksys box and plugging it into our network so they do 'something'. The cute little boxes that do DHCP tear the network all to pieces in that building. We had to upgrade a potload of devices so we could lock cute little boxes out. We eventually caught it by renting a high powered packet sniffer box and it's associated consultant. Maybe the FAA is using the same NIC. Of course, they paid $27,000 for it ;-) -----Original Message----- From: owner-vse-l@Lehigh.EDU [mailto:owner-vse-l@Lehigh.EDU] On Behalf Of Jeffrey Barnard Sent: Thursday, November 19, 2009 4:25 PM To: VSE Discussion List Subject: Re: FAA Computer glitch The FAA said the computer problem, which lasted about four hours, was fixed around 9 a.m. EST. It started when a single circuit board in a piece of networking equipment at a computer center in Salt Lake City failed, the FAA said in a statement.
