We switched to InfoPrint Manager for Windows two years ago. We use it to
print to IBM Infoprint printers and to various PCL capable printers,
mostly HP. No mainframe component. Configuration was touch and go for a
while, but very stable. Our departmental users are thrilled because most
of their printing issues went away. It can also deal with Postscript
printers. Did I mention it seamlessly translates from one to another?

Does the mainframe PSF session attach directly to the Ricoh printer? Does
the Ricoh printer understand the IPDS format, which is what PSF uses (I
think I have the right!).
The reason I ask is that we have a project to outsource all of our
customer
print stuff (statements, notices, whatever), so the thought is that we can
get rid of our Infoprint printers. But some of us like to print compile
listings and other things occasionally. Currently this goes to our
Infoprint printer on continuous forms "greenline" paper. (We actually use
the back of the greenline and use a PSF formdef/pagedef to get three
compile
pages per printer page). Anyway, I wonder if a non-IBM company might have
something we can use in place of our Infoprint printers.
Have others run in to this situation? Do you simply no longer print huge
documents?
