Hello Bob,
My curiosity has gotten the best of me in regards to your presence here
on the VSE list. We are a current VSE and SungardHE Plus customer, we
are being forced to the Banner because we were told that SungardHE could
no longer afford to provide support for PLUS systems on both VSE and
zOS/MVS. We were also told that SungardHE hasn't had a VSE system for
several years now and were lead to believe we were the last VSE
SungardHE customer. So whatcha doing working on zVSE 4?

Aha. Piecing together the last couple posts would imply that if during
the installation process, the answer to question:
BG 0000 IESI0079D DO YOU WANT TO RUN YOUR SYSTEM WITH SECURITY ON?
YES/NO
had been answered with YES, the DTSECTAB would have been assembled and
placed in IJSYSRS.SYSLIB by the installation jobs.
Then, if the statement SYS SEC=YES is present in the $IPL deck, BSM
resource checking would be done using DTSECTAB.
In my case, the $IPL deck contains SYS SEC=NO so regardless of the
answer to the installation question, resource checking is not being done
through DTSECTAB.

Basically, you have to leave yourself the original $IPL and $JCL PROCs
(without the SEC=YES) to use in the case of an emergency.

...not specified? Correct. In fact, you must be very careful
before you specify VSE SEC=YES or you can inadvertently lock yourself
out of the system -- requiring a restore of DOSRES or (if no backups)
maybe even requiring a re-install. Otherwise, though DTSECTAB continues
in conjunction with the BSM, DTSECTXN is deprecated in favor of the BSM
control file for enhanced CICS security. To modify DTSECTAB, copy
skeleton DTSECTRC from VSE/ICCF library 59 to your private VSE/ICCF
library. You create a new (updated) DTSECTAB by submitting skeleton
DTSECTRC from your private VSE/ICCF library.
Sincerely,
Dave Clark
