Thanks Bob and Gustavo,
I did find PRELEASE RDR,TAPESRVR at location 21CB in phase $IJBVTAP
I'll start there and see what happens.

Hi Bob and Kevin,
I am on zVSE 4.2 but I am using Dynamt which generates the VTAPE statement under the covers, but it is good to know about the JNM parameter.
I though about scanning for the R RDR stmt, but I just haven't done it yet, does anyone have any idea what phase it might be in.

And if your not on 4.2 and have a library scan program find the phase that has the current name in it and ZAP it to what you want.
If you're on zVSE 4.2 there is a parameter on the VTAPE command to influence the name of the tape server
// VTAPE START,CUU=780,LOC=VSAM,FILE='BACKUP1',SCRATCH,JNM=TAPESRVA
