Dave Clark-I used to do it that way too but I found out if you, it's in some doc somewhere, rename the .bin to .ptf you avoid uploading it. Also, SOME PTF files are huge (RSL's being one) and I've had problems when using PTF.FILE/VSESPUC because it fills up. Originally I resorted to a single 3390-3 and defined PTF.FILE there but I was still uploading. Way too slow. Me thinks that, in my case, I didn't use VTAPE to handle the .ptf file (just issued a DEVINIT cuu path_name under Herc). VTAPE may be required to properly deblock the file. I'll give that a shot. Now, hows come Dave Stuart gets them sent ZIPped? Hmmm. owner-vse-l@Lehigh.EDU wrote on 11/09/2009 03:44:04 PM: > Is this the way you guys have been doing this. Frankly, I liked the > OLD way better ... When I download PTF's, they come as .bin files and I leave them that way. I FTP them to the "PTF.FILE" ESDS file and apply them "from disk." I'm sure IND$FILE would work just as well in the same fashion. This tells me they are not AWS files and, hence, I don't see how VTAPE would work. But, then again, perhaps something has changed with ShopZseries. I have not downloaded any PTF's since they went to ShopZseries.
