Hello Terry, This has been a thorn in the VSE side for some time. While there is no specific utility that can find out where the file is being used, we (the list) have come up with a list of things to check. 1) Another CICS region . You may have another VSE running. 2) Batch programs. Same as above. 3) Interactive Ditto Check to see what is running 4) TCP/IP system with FTP functions 5) VSE/VSAM for VM not supposed but used a lot 6) Non-IBM Utilities for VSAM I am sure you will get more info soon. WHO? Hi All, Last night we had a problem deleting a VSAM KSDS file during our nightly processing. The delete and define job cancels with a return code of 16. When I looked at the listing the file could not be deleted because it is in use some where else. Does anyone have a program or REXX script that they are willing to share that could tell me who has the file? I have looked at the "Hints and Tips for z/VSE" manual and it seems like a lot of hoops to go thru to find out who using the file. We had our production CICS/TS down at time which is the only online system that could be using the file. Thanks in advance. Terry McWilliams Technical Support
