Hello Dave,

I believe that may be correct. We powered down the 3174 TR connection, and the server connected via Token ring.

I had the tech fix the cable, and we did switch ports to an empty one.

Powered everything up and we have connection.

The network guy was sweating it as he did not have any change request or any other paper work. Other than someone asked him to move stuff.

As a recall there was also a "tool" that had to be plugged in to initialize things. It might have had to be plugged into each port in sucession or something like that.

	Edward,

The RO and RI ports are only needed to connect multiple 8228s or other hub together. Do not connect any other device to these ports.

It does not matter which port the 3174 is connected to.

With newer hubs/switches, we have had to re-enable the interface on our OSA, when the cable got unplugged. I don't remember if we ever had to do that with the 3174, when we had one. We no longer have the T/R OSA, so this is all as I recall.

	Hello Everyone,

NO ONE LAUGH (to much anyway)!

We have a Token-Ring 8228 Hub. Since this is the only 8228 do we need anything in the RO and RI ports, like terminators or can the stay open?

Secondly the 3174 connects to the 8228, that connector can be in any port correct (other than the RO and RI ports)?

And yes the Token Ring is down.

Seems some network person needed the rack area, and requested that the 8228 be removed from the rack.

	Has not work since.

About 2 hours ago. I just got notified.
