Hello Allan and Bob,
We are using CA-FAVER2 5.0-SP04 with most patches applied.
Is the file in question a SAM/ESDS file? I have found two problems
associated with SAM/ESDS that will drive
VSAM crazy.
Both have to do with implicit defines going to a second extent volume
and the last block of that extent.
PMR 52784,082 and 59645,082.
I am working on the VSE 4.1.2 RSL level of 07/31/2009 for all the newest
VSAM ptfs.
FAVER2 will attempt to restore using all the saved catalog information
on the tape, if the records do not match you will get that message.
With FAVER2 you can change the max record size during the restore.

FAVER2 is current.ly at the 0411 level. Beyond that, CA has posted
FAVER2
51 patches, about 20 of which are really documentation updates. They
also
listed 41 related System Adapter patches and 2 GSS patches. CA's
support
Web site is https://support.ca.com/irj/portal/anonymous.

A backup of a production set of vsam files was used to restore with
rename
to a UAT environment, no errors issued.
The UAT environment was then attempted to be backed up , but faver
indicated a key out of sequence and a wrong length record size.
I then ran a FAVER2 disk to disk from prod to UAT with rename , I then
FAVER2 disk to disk with rename to another set... no issues
F1EXPORT & F1RESTOR & FAVER2 are all at 9901 level and cannot find my
notes
as to how to look at CA to see whether there are any fixes
They want urgent answers as to what has gone wrong and what I am going
to
do to remedy ....
