The third party software level 2 says they have set up and support starting
at vse 2.7.1. They say that it works - and it does if they compile it and
send it to us up to this point on 3480 tapes. We are probably only a company
out of a few others that are still at vse 2.6.1 and still using 3480 tape
drives. The third party company has to move forward and will not support
previous releases. Also they was not willing to still send us 3480's. They
want probably that to go away also and have everyone get database and
program code off the web. It is much easier and less costly for them. The
database is a monthly thing and we were getting 18 3480 tapes every month -
very expensive for tapes and for packaging and shipping. The 3490 is 3
tapes.

So we are just trying to figure what to do about the program code that
abends. They will not look into it because their support only goes back to
2.7.1 and that program code works. Again we might have to buy 3490's but
hate to because we are working on moving to Oracle and are trying to stay
with the status quo that all works under vse 2.6.1. How much is 3490's
anyway. Can you get small 3490 portable units that would hook up to our flex
box?

.....all thing having been said... (and I am late to this thread anyway)...

What is the problem in adapting the source where it causes a 0C1
(operation exception)?
