Subject: New List Status

As of 10:15 AM EDST, the new list had 135 successful subscribers, including those awaiting listminder approval due to remote addresses. Apparently, there are a few folks using the latest AOL software who may be caught due to the lock into HTML, either as the only message format (which the system will not accept) or as a second portion of the message (which the system rejects as an attachment). At present, there is no work-around, and there will be no time to see if one can be developed until after all the folks who wish to transfer from the old list have gone through the subscription process at the new list. Incidentally, I receive a message for each successful automated subscription and 3 (not including the one I send) for each subscription needing approval. So my box is always pretty full and will be until after the transition period. If you have items needing attention other than subscription problems, you might send them to this address to ensure that they do not get lost in the mass of mail list mail. For example, I received a note that some links were not working--they worked on local, but my FTP converts all filenames to lower case, and some of the links had caps--and the system we use is a case-sensitive UNIX system. Now fixed--I think. I have also added a button to take web browsers to the mail list subscription page and have revised the web version of the welcome message to reflect the new list. Once the transition period is over (May 31), we shall go to work on special problems and further services via the mail list. -73- LB, W4RNL list minder/mender/coordinator
