Forwarded for Kim, KD6TLB, President of MBARA / N6IJ: --- After Radiofest, (Saturday 2/28 in Monterey, CA) you are invited to visit N6IJ in Marina. N6IJ, the former MARS radio station at Ft. Ord, will host an open house this Saturday, from noon to 5 PM. Membership in N6IJ is open to all hams, and grants full access to the station The station is a world class ham radio station equipped with HF rigs, KW linears, VHF, and a satellite station. The antenna farm consists of over 5 acres of antennas covering most bands. (See http://www.n6ij.org for pictures) Members take an active role in the management and operation of the station. There is room for experimental antennas, and workshop space for projects. The N6IJ open house is scheduled from Noon to 5 PM on Saturday. Club VP, Tom Tengdin will be there to receive members and guests. Eric Swartz, of Elecraft (and a board member of N6IJ) will be showing off new Elecraft products live using the N6IJ antenna farm. Directions: The station is located in Marina, CA, approximately 5 miles north of NPSARC Radiofest event in Monterey. From Radiofest, travel north on Hwy. 1. Exit at 12th St. Go about 1 mile east on Imjim Parkway/12th Ave., and turn right on California Ave. (Just past the big sand pile.) Then make a sharp left turn at DX drive, and you are at N6IJ. From Santa Cruz, travel south on Hwy. 1 to Marina. Exit 12th street, and follow the directions above. For a map and pictures of the station see: http://www.n6ij.org N6IJ Members- drag a friend over. Bribe them with offers of food and drink. Also- you will have a chance to add yourself to the very cool N6IJ door control system, which lets you in the station using your driver's license as a key.
