I just saw that some Hams on the list have 6BTV verticals. I hope to install
one ground mounted. In a ground mounted installation is guying needed??

Guying never hurts but the 6BTV is one of the most rugged verticals i've
ever used. 
well built physically.  Believe it's rated conservatively at 75 MPH wind.
