That's strange because I am sitting here with my husband and another couple and all three tried to get the cap off without hitting the top button. All to no avail. Did I get a lemon? Don't know but the wife of the other couple with me also has a Lantus pen she got in another state than I got mine and she says she had the same problems I had and gave up on using the pen. What does the numbers in the pen window do when you inject? Do the numbers go back to -0- as you inject as in the novo pen? Or do they act like ours do, they just stay at the amount of the dosage. To me, this is a bigger problem than the cartridge having to be pushed back in each time the cap is released. Nancy
